Overnight Severe Weather

Hey Dawgs! Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather! Our start to the month of April has been hectic, but we are here to keep you informed!

As we move into tonight the mid-latitude cyclone that has currently set up over Ohio is having a lot of implications over all of the Eastern US. A cold front will sweep across the Deep South and bring with it a multitude of serve weather warnings. Tonight the storms will first arrive around 11pm. From then until 5am, you can expect thunderstorms across most of Georgia. For Athens, in addition to the thunderstorms, we also are under an enhanced risk for tornadoes and strong winds as per the NWS and NOAA. The current outlook has Georgia experiencing an isolated tornado or two. If you live in an area with high risk make sure you have an emergency plan of action.

But by the time the sun rises the major risks should be gone, but there will be some residual showers and possibly some trees down. However, by midday tomorrow the sun should peak out warming us up to mid 60s. Also making the afternoon commute home much more pleasant compared to the morning.

Please note that this forecast is as of 5pm April 2nd, as the storm gets closer the parameters may have shifted. Continue to check the forecast for more information.

Thanks for reading and Go Dawgs!
