Good morning, everyone! As we talked about yesterday we are expecting a round of potentially severe weather to move through the area this afternoon. Gusty winds remain the primary risk for our area, but a tornado or two can not be ruled out especially in our far northern counties.
A positive is that the warmer air in the mid layers of the atmosphere is working to supress instability right now. However, later today there appears to be more unstable conditions across the area with instability building in from the south. Models are showing that the atmosphere will, in general, become more favorable for severe weather as the afternoon progresses, so please stay tuned to local sources to ensure you are aware of any danger headed your way.
We are keeping an eye out for our viewers and will alert you of any potential danger including watches and warnings. We want to be clear that the fastest way for you to recieve critical weather information is through a NOAA weather radio and/or emergency alerts on your mobile phone. Stay tuned to local news stations to have current information on hand. HAVE A PLAN! Once this system passes we are expecting nice weather this weekend.
