Maeve Resk

Hi! Thanks so much for visiting my page! I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a Weather Dawg and deliver Northern Georgia with the most reliable forecasts, in hopes of becoming a professional meteorologist! Learn a bit more about me below, and don't hesitate to reach out!

My Story

I first decided that I wanted to be a weather reporter when I was around nine-years-old. Growing up, I was subconsiously super interested in the weather. When I got older, my childhood nanny had pointed out that when I used to tell her to pull the plastic from the stroller down because it was going to rain. I have no idea if there was any actual accuracy to this, but I thought so at the time. I would also typically give my family a morning report from whatever weather app I had on my iPad. My dream job had originally been to become the female version of Jimmy Fallon, but one day my dad pointed out that I should be a meteorologist. At the age of nine, I thought, sure, why not combine my passion for communicating with people with my passion for weather?

Now, I am a second-year student at the University of Georgia, pursuing a degree in atmospheric sciences. When I first got to UGA I wasn't sure if I was going to love the career I had chosen as a nine-year-old, but now, I have just discovered that my passion has grown. One day, I hope to be a positive and energetic spirit for communities watching the news, and ensuring public safety during severe weather through connecting and communicating with people. I have learned so much already from being a Weather Dawg and have grown a deep appreciation for all the work that goes in behind the scenes!

When I'm not checking the eight different weather apps on my phone, you can catch me on a run or a hike, at the ocean, playing the guitar, listening to rock music, or hitting up a thrift store!
