Another High and Dry Week

Good afternoon, Athens and North Georgia.

Today has been a pretty day here in Athens, with the sky being clear in the morning and clouds increasing during the early afternoon. Tonight, Athens will cool down to 71, and Canton will reach 70. Clouds will increase overnight, mainly in Northeastern Georgia, and will remain largely absent elsewhere. It will be a beautiful night to go out and do stuff.

Tomorrow, Athens will hit 89, and Canton will hit 90. No rain is expected in Canton, but some cannot be ruled out in Athens, where there is a 10% chance tomorrow. Usually, Canton is cooler than Athens, but a weak wedge pattern is materializing, caused by a high-pressure system forcing cooler air down the eastern side of the Appalachian Mountains into Northeastern Georgia. Sometimes this will cause temperatures to crash downward, but because it is weak, minimal cooling is forecast. Tomorrow will be a good day to partake in outdoor activities, and I personally recommend pickleball.

These warm conditions, with dominating high-pressure and a general lack of rainfall, create what is called a high and dry pattern. That high and dry pattern will be the general story this week.
