Are Weekends the New Dry Days?

Adam Smith

Good evening, Athens and North Georgia! We enjoyed mostly clear skies today, although temperatures were rather cool when combined with a brisk wind generally out of the NW. Those conditions are generally expected to persist (more to follow on that), with a clear and dry weekend on tap. It might even be that -- after a year where seemingly every weekend was soaked at some point until just recently -- weekends might be our new dry periods. Focusing on today, we are keeping with the idea of dry conditions. Although some pesky higher clouds are sticking around, it is likely that even these will abate overnight. As such, the mercury should dip once again region-wide, with lows falling into the low 40s (possibly into the upper 30s). Tomorrow, the cooler post-front weather, with highs rising into the lower 60s. In the wind department, today's brisk winds are expected to calm somewhat overnight (although not abate) but will likely return (albeit noticeably weaker) tomorrow.

The story will be similar throughout North Georgia, with cooler conditions persisting through tonight and into tomorrow. Lows region-wide will likely approach 40, with some places falling into the upper 30s. Highs will remain similarly below average tomorrow, with highs struggling to get to around 60 region-wide. Winds will also weaken overnight here, although they will rebound to between 10-15 mph tomorrow.

Overall, we appear to be in for a nice weekend. The cooler temps will stick around for the majority of the weekend, although we will approach normal (the low 70s) as we head into Sunday. The winds, although still noticeable tomorrow, will slowly wane over the weekend to leave us with a docile weekend.

Overall, be sure to enjoy the nice weekend ahead! It's the first weekend of April, the Braves are in town for their home opener, and the conditions seem to be rather pristine! Stay safe, have fun, and as always, Go Dawgs!!!
