Still Holding On to Summer

Good evening, Athens and North Georgia! We’re all ready for sweater weather, but September has said, "not yet." An upper-level ridge is still parked above the state, keeping high pressure in control and driving temperatures up. Highs across the region soared into the upper 90s today.
Looking toward the evening, a few scattered showers should clear out overnight, leaving lows in the low 70s for both Athens and Canton. We will continue to see unseasonably hot conditions tomorrow, with high temperatures reaching 97° in both cities. Later into tomorrow evening, expect a slight 10% chance of showers across North Georgia.
If you're getting ready for the first UGA game of the season against Tennessee State, expect very hot conditions for all pre-kickoff festivities—and those conditions will persist through kickoff. Be sure to wear sun protection while out celebrating, take plenty of breaks in the shade, and stay hydrated.
Stay safe and Go Dawgs!
