Storm Clouds Make a Return

What a shift in weather we have experienced today in North Georgia after such a clear, calm Monday - perfect weather for watching the solar eclipse yesterday. We appreciate the clouds moving out of the way for the event but as we saw today, that nice weather did not stay around for long. Migrating just north of the region, rain clouds stretch out to New England as a low-pressure system and fronts move in from southern Texas, leaving behind the soppy weather we saw today. Unfortunately, this storm system will continue its rainy course throughout the week as it progresses its way towards the east bringing along chances of thunderstorms and possible severe weather threats such as hail and flash flooding in certain southeastern regions.

In Athens, clouds will linger overnight and keep temperatures warm at 56 degrees. There is a 20% chance of rain overnight and some areas may experience a few spotty showers in the morning. However, most of that rain should clear out by the day and return overnight. Tomorrow, we are expecting warmer temperatures than today with a high of 74 degrees accompanied by partly cloudy skies. Again, we expect thunderstorms to roll back in overnight so prepare accordingly and keep watch for any flash flooding warnings that may be released.

A similar narrative will unfold for our viewers in the North Georgia region. Chances of precipitation are slightly higher overnight at 30% as those clouds continue rolling through. This will drop temperatures down to 57 degrees, following that warm trend we see in Athens. We expect the high tomorrow to peak up to 73 degrees and chances of rain will dip down to 20% during the day before thunderstorms roll back in overnight.
