The Wedge Strikes Again

Happy Veterans Day, Athens! Though the day started gloomy, the skies cleared, and UGA was left with a warm fall day. These conditions presided over most of North Georgia, where temperatures are still abnormally warm for this time of year. However, a bit of respite might come on Wednesday due to a weather event known as the Wedge. This is when cold air damns against the Appalachian mountains and funnels cold air down south. This should drop temperatures a few degrees on Wednesday, but we will warm up again. We can expect a band of rain to move across Georgia on Thursday after the Wedge departs. So watch out for the timing of those showers as the date gets closer.

But for now, we'll look to Athens tonight, where we can expect a low of 50 degrees with mostly clear skies. But by tomorrow morning, we should have a bit of fog, though not as bad as today. This fog will move out quickly as the sun comes up. Though these clear skies won't last long, more clouds will move in by the afternoon, leaving us mostly overcast and a high of 73 degrees.

Thanks for reading, and Go Dawgs!
