Warm Friday, Cooler Weekend Ahead

Good afternoon, Athens and North Georgia. If you've been outside today, you've probably noticed how much warmer it is today than yesterday. If you're not a fan, I have good news and bad news. But first, the bad news: tomorrow will be warmer. The good news: this weekend will be cooler!

Tonight in Athens, we will see a low of 59 degrees and cloudy skies. Tomorrow, a high of 85 degrees, continued clouds, and windier conditions are expected.

Canton will hit a low of 56 degrees with mostly cloudy skies tonight. The high will reach tomorrow, and clouds and wind will be similar to those here in Athens.

Tomorrow night, a cold front will push through the state, bringing a slight chance of showers overnight. Then cooler, dry air will filter into Georgia on Saturday. The high here in Athens will be in the mid 60s, thanks to our Wedge (cooler air from the Appalachians funneled into east Georgia). Here's that good (or bad) news you were waiting for!

We are also in an extreme drought here in Athens, and a severe drought in Canton. We are not expecting any beneficial rainfall in the next week, which will exacerbate these already poor conditions
