A Dreary Hump Day

Relatively warm and moist air have entered Athens and North Georgia; a sigh of relief as we get a brief break from frigid temperatures... at the cost of rain. Tonight, we expect clouds and rain to move into the region at about 8 o'clock. This cloud coverage will keep the low temperatures from crossing below the freezing threshold, as we predict it will hit a low temperture of 43 degrees in Athens. As for Canton, it appears they will receive the precipitation a bit earlier, which will cool them off a slight bit more than Athens overnight. We are forecasting a low of 42 degrees tonight for Canton.

Moving into tomorrow, the clouds will persist. What does this mean for the temperature? These clouds will block some sunlight, which will prevent Athens from heating as much as we did today. A weak cold front will pass through tomorrow mid day, which could bring some scattered showers throughout the afternoon. Following this frontal passage, a cooler drier air mass will follow through into North Georgia, bringing the low temperatures for tomorrow night back down into freezing territory.

Prepare for wet and dreary conditions this Wednesday, hence the title. Enjoy your evening!
