Good evening Athens, North Georgia, and our viewers! December kicked off with a chilly start, and the cold trend continued today. Highs only reached 49℉, and tonight temperatures will plummet into the upper 20s. This cold weather pattern will persist as we look ahead to the week.

Tonight, Athens can expect a low of 27. A freeze warning will be in effect overnight through tomorrow morning, so take precautions to prevent frozen pipes and protect outdoor plants by covering or bringing them indoors. Those of you in North Georgia mountains can expect to wake up to a light dusting of snow in overnight tonight.

Tomorrow's conditions will be similar to todays's, with a high of 46 and a low overnight of 28. Though skies will be sunny and clear in the afternoon, you'll still need a jacket to stay warm throughout the day.

For our students in the Classic City, today marks the last day of the semester—and our final blog post of the year. We’re so grateful to serve the Athens and North Georgia community, and we can’t wait to bring you more updates in the new year.

Stay warm and take care!
