Rainy Reprieve Ahead

Good evening, Athens and North Georgia!

Hope you all have been enjoying the sunshine and warm temperatures today.

It feels as if summer came early as we smashed the record high temperature for today, reaching as high as 81°.

This weekend will mark an end of these nice conditions as we see a cold front come through tomorrow morning. This front will bring cooler temperatures and rain, with Northwest Georgia even seeing the possibility of severe storms at around 4am. The rain for Friday will be done by late morning, but we aren't off the hook yet, as another wave of showers will sweep through North Georgia mid-day on Saturday. This wave will bring rain around noon and should be out of our area by 5pm.

We will see temperatures slowly fall back down to normal for this time of year, with the low for tonight in Athens being 63°, and the high tomorrow being 76°. Canton will have a low of 61° and a high of 71°. By the time next week rolls around, we'll begin to see our highs back in the 40s-50s.

Have a great weekend and Go Dawgs!
