We're Wedging it

Hello Athens!

We had a rather pleasant day (if you ask me), and we finally got weather that feels like fall. However, don’t get too used to these temperatures; we are experiencing something that we Southerners know as “False Fall."

I do have some good news though. Tomorrow, like today, will be on the chillier side. We are currently experiencing some cold air damming here in Athens (thanks to the wedge), which means we have cold air being funneled down the Appalachian Mountains to us here in Northwest Georgia. Tonight, we are expecting a low of 60 with low-level clouds and persistent NNE winds. Don't be surprised if you run into a few rain showers during tonight and tomorrow. Though the chance is low, rain is still possible.

During the day tomorrow, we will still be "wedging," so we aren’t expecting to warm up very much, only reaching a high of around 72. We will experience some cooler northerly winds throughout the day with cloud cover likely. So, drink a pumpkin spice drink and savor tomorrow's weather.

After tomorrow, we are expecting to gradually warm up as we go throughout the week, thanks to air mass modification. So, make sure to enjoy this Fall weather while it lasts!
