Where the rain at?

Happy Monday Athens and North Georgia!

We had a pleasurable cooldown this past weekend as a strong cold front pushed through to give us a little break from the summer-like conditions we've been experiencing the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, that was pretty short-lived, and the temperatures are going to climb back up throughout the week, with no signs of drought relief until the weekend.

With that said, the low for tonight in Athens is expected to reach 45 degrees, and 44 degrees in Canton. While tomorrow, the classic city is expected to reach a high of 78 degrees, and Canton is expected to reach a high of 77 degrees. These numbers will increase as the week progresses due to the dry conditions that most of the state possesses. Specifically speaking, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for northwest Georgia, while the rest of north and central Georgia is under a Special Weather Statement (including Athens)! Fire danger conditions are high, so keep any burning to a minimum as winds are gusty and relative humidity is low! This only amplifies drought conditions, so where's the rain at? It won't be arriving, if arriving, until this weekend, and may not be enough to dissolve the persistent dryness.

Once again, stay hydrated, stay cool, and keep it easy on the fires.
