Hot.

If you are like me and are already sick of this sweltering heat, well, bad news. This heat is here to stay. If you look at the National Weather Service page, it doesn't even say "partly cloudy" or "sunny" for all of the days this week... it just says "hot". And that's exactly what it will be. We are currently sitting under high pressure, which means sinking air. This high pressure creates a heat dome over us, as air from the upper atmosphere sinks and warms due to compression. On top of this, the lack of cloud coverage will allow the sun to do it's work much more efficiently, making that ground extra hot.

Tonight, expect a low of 74 here in Athens with a little bit of clouds, and 72 over in Canton.

As for tomorrow, prepare for a blistering day, as we are forecasting a high of 96 for Athens and a high of 94 for Canton. certain model runs have the NW GA Blue Ridge region (around Dalton) breaking into the 100s, which is unlikely yet remarkable to see. Feels like temperatures in Athens will be as high as 103, and in Canton the feels like temperatures will reach as high as 102.

All in all, for the remainder of the week dewpoints will be sticking in the 70s, and the day time air temperatures will be sticking in the upper 90s. This is not a pleasant combination. The air will be sticky, muggy, and hot. Stay hydrated, and stay cool.
