A Warm Welcome Back

Good evening, Athens, Georgia! We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful summer break! The UGA WXDawgs are back in action this semester to bring you your weekday hyperlocal weather updates for Athens, GA!

Right now, conditions are warm and sunny at 89 degrees, but the calm skies won’t last long. Tonight, winds will die down with only a slight chance of rain, though some light fog may settle in. Temperatures will drop into the low 70s, with a projected low of 72. The trend of warm days will continue, and tomorrow temperatures will rise into the upper 80s, with a potential high of 89 degrees. Additionally, your afternoon may be impacted by a stray thunderstorm, so definitely bring an umbrella to class.

As we move into midweek, the heat and humidity will stick around, with highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s. Each afternoon will carry the chance of a pop-up thunderstorm. By Friday, storm chances increase, with morning showers possible and heavier afternoon thunderstorms developing across North Georgia.

This weekend in Athens will be cloudy, humid, and stormy, with showers and the potential for strong thunderstorms developing Saturday afternoon into the evening. Sunday will bring more clouds, periods of rain, and scattered storms throughout the day.

We hope you enjoy your first full week back on campus! And as always...

Go Dawgs!
