Cold Front to Bring Rain Mid-Week

We hope you enjoyed the warm-up today; our temperatures reached a high of 81 degrees, which is a new record for February 4th in Athens!

Moving into tonight, we are expecting clouds to roll in, causing the overnight low to be slightly higher. We are predicting a temperature in the low 50s. Moving into Wednesday, the clouds will persist, keeping the daytime temperatures down. Our predictions are pinging the high at 68 degrees. After 7pm, scattered showers will enter the area, peaking in frequency around midnight.

Moving into the rest of the week, there will be a chance for showers nearly every day. These showers will be hit or miss, so keep up with the most recent updates to stay prepared. High temperatures throughout the rest of the week should stay in the mid 70s, so be prepared to drop some layers after the morning warmup.

Aside from the current weather, this week (February 3-7) is Severe Weather Preparedness Week! Today's topic is on thunderstorm safety. Knowing the difference between a severe thunderstorm watch and severe thunderstorm warning can be life-saving information. For the safety of you and your loved ones, make sure to keep an eye on the weather when a watch is issued, and have a plan to make quick, decisive action when a warning is issued.
