Cold weather persists, and winter weather this weekend

Hello Athens! If you weren’t ready for the winter weather to be over, don’t fret. We could see some snowfall around our area this weekend. Until then, we will remain cold, dry, and mostly sunny.

Tonight, we are expected to reach a chilly low of 26 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Luckily, if you are out and about tonight, the wind will be calm and no rain is expected. So, have fun, but be sure to layer up!

Tomorrow, it will be partly cloudy across northern Georgia, with a forecasted high of 49 in Athens. The winds will be calm, and for the cold month of January, tomorrow will be a relatively pleasant day.

This weekend, North and Eastern Georgia are expected to accumulate snowfall throughout the day on Saturday. Make sure to be prepared and have food you can eat in case the power goes out. Stay warm and stay tuned to your local weather stations for updates closer to this weekend!
