Heat Relief Is On The Way

For our viewers in North Georgia and Athens, It was quite the weekend with a beautiful lighting show on Friday night, then abundant sunshine with high temperatures and high humidity for the rest of the weekend. But things should get less toasty for the next few days as a cold front that passed through our area this weekend is here to stick around, bringing in a high pressure system that calling for nice weather along with cooler temperatures and lower heat index values.

As we head into the overnight hours for Athens, we expect to see mostly clear skies, with the low dipping into the high 60's. For tomorrow, anticipate abundant sunshine, along with a few afternoon clouds. The high will peak in the lower 90's.

For North Georgia, we expect to see very similar conditions. as we go into the overnight hours, mostly clear skies are present with the low dipping into the mid 60's. For tomorrow, anticipate abundant sunshine along with a cloud or two in the afternoon. The high will peak into the upper 80's.

Looking ahead for the rest of the week, a low pressure system is expected to make its way on over to Georgia, bringing with it some rain showers on Thursday and continuing to bring in some heat relief before temperatures shoot back up for the weekend. We'll have more on this impending system over the next couple of days.
