It Keeps Warmin' Warmin' Warmin' Warmin', C'mon!

Good evening, Athens!

Today, we saw a high temperature of around 85 degrees in Athens, which ten degrees above average for this time of year. Skies have remained mostly clear, and the dew points have been slowly dropping throughout the day, making today warm, but comfortable.

Overnight, we are expecting the temperature to drop back down to 56 degrees, with no chance of rain. Skies should remain clear throughout the night, and the moon will be 10% illuminated, which is fantastic news for stargazers.

Looking forward to tomorrow, we are expecting the high temperature to jump back up even higher, sitting at 87 degrees. We can thank the high-pressure regime that is currently in place for eliminating our rain chances, as well as our clear skies.

We are expecting the warming to continue over the next several days, culminating in highs in the lower 90s this weekend. The increasing temperatures and zero rain chances will continue to exacerbate the worst effects of the drought in most portions of Georgia, so keep a look out for Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Statements.

The next opportunity for some reprieve will be on Sunday, as we expect to see a cold front pass through, bringing some showers along with it.
