Just Shy of a Record High

Good evening Athens!

We were so close to hitting a record high today, on November 19th. We reached 79°F, just shy of the record of 81°F. Today didn't feel like our typical late fall, and cities such as Atlanta, Columbus, and Macon could potentially break their own records as we approach tomorrow. A high pressure system has been hanging over the Southeast like a calm, steady friend, keeping our skies clear today and and warming us well into the upper 70s.

Tonight brings in a mild temperature drop into the lower 50s. This is ideal for a leisuley stroll around campus to enjoy the sights of color changing leaves. Even the North Georgia mountains, normally the first to freeze, stay mild and frost-free. A rare November treat.

Tomorrow will remain warmer than usual, but we will see more clouds move in and bring temperatures down slightly into the mid-70s. By friday, these clouds might bring us some slight rain to remind us we are still in November.

For now though, we're still resting under that mellow ridge, enjoying this warm, easy stretch while it lasts. Days like this don't show up often in late November, so soak it in.
