Low Pressure Coming to Athens

Fall is in full swing as overnight temperatures have dipped in the low 40s and even upper 30s in some areas of North Georgia. There has been significant diurnal range over the past couple days- sometimes reaching a thirty degree difference between low and high values. For the most part, Athens and surrounding areas have remained dry. The biggest features this week are the cooler air and gusty winds.

The Weather Prediction Center shows a cold front coming through on Friday, hosting the potential for isolated showers. Fortunately, there is no severe weather associated with this system, but understand that the chance for some rain ahead of the front is possible. While it is still called a cold front, the temperatures won't be affected too much. In fact, the highs are expected to increase later this week, so the main component of this system is the precipitation.

Once the front passes, expect sunny conditions for Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will hang in the low to mid 70s, but stick around as we will provide updates on your weekend forecast over the next couple of days. Go Dawgs!
