Heat Wave

Hello Athens students and North Georgia residents, this week has been the first week we have had without rain. But it seems that as we move into the summer, we are switching from a lot of rain to a lot of sun. The National Weather Service has issued an extended Heat Advisory for Tuesday June 24th and Wednesday June 25th. The high is expected to climb into the upper 90s with low 100's possible, with the feel temperature expecting to climb to 105. For Athens, we are expecting the temperature to climb to 99, with feel temperatures rising above the triple digit threshold. No rain is expected for today, except for some pop up showers along the i-20 corridor. For North Georgia, the temperature will also climb but not as much as in Athens and Central Georgia. With temperatures expected to climb to 97 and feel temperatures expected to jump to the 100's as well. Today will be rather sunny, with clouds expected to provide for some shade, but not much. So make sure to have fun in the sun, but make sure you stay weather aware just in case things get heated. Bring water, sunscreen, and get ample shade time. I hope you have a great rest of your day Athens and North Georgia and go dawgs!
