Wavering Weekend Weather

For our viewers in North Georgia and Athens, we've been quiet as of late, with abundant sunshine, high temperatures and heat indices, along with little to no rain except for a few isolated spots in our coverage area. That trend is going to continue into the weekend as a high pressure system has stalled over our area due to a weak jet stream.

As we go into the overnight hours in Athens, we expect partly cloudy conditions with temps dipping into the lower 70's. For tomorrow, we anticipate partly cloudy conditions but a stray isolated thunderstorm could arise in the afternoon. The high will peak into the mid 90's.

For North Georgia, we expect to see similar conditions. As we go into the overnight hours tonight, partly cloudy conditions will be present, and the low will dip into the low 70's. For tomorrow, we expect partly cloudy conditions through most of the day, but a stray isolated thunderstorm may pop up. The high will peak into the low-mid 90's.

Heading into the weekend, cloudy conditions will start to roll in, bringing our temperature down by a few degrees on Saturday before rebounding on Sunday. Stray thunderstorms may pop up in the afternoons. Have a fantastic weekend and stay cool!
