More Heat and Humidity Ahead

Good afternoon, Athens and North Georgia!

The high heat, humidity, and associated afternoon scattered showers pattern that has been ongoing across our area the past few days looks to persist in the near term. This is largely thanks to a very persistent pattern of high pressure stationed overhead that has been slow to move out over the past week. However, looking toward the weekend, we expect a more concentrated system of showers to move in, particularly across the eastern part of the state.

Looking at our immediate temperature outlook, in Athens we expect a warm low of 72 degrees tonight with areas near Canton reaching a slightly cooler low of 71.

As for tomorrow, we expect Athens to reach a high of 90 degrees with Canton only being slightly cooler reaching a high of 89, both of which are 3-4 degrees cooler than we have observed over the past few days.
