An active weather weekend begins Friday night with the chance of wintery precipitation going into your Sunday morning.
Tomorrow across North Georgia, we will see another warm day with temperatures slightly above average. Rain will begin to put a damper on your weekend around late afternoon and continue overnight. The further southeast you are, the higher chance of rain you will see. A stalled front will hang over the state, causing moisture to persist. Rainfall totals are not too impressive in Northwest Georgia as you travel further southeast, many areas can see about an inch of rain.
As the front begins to move again on Saturday, with another shot of colder air, we have the potential to see the chance of wintery precipitation on Sunday morning, mainly north of I-85 with the mountains having the greatest chance. The models are disagreeing on where or if we will see snow outside of the mountains.
Below are a few of what our best models are predicting. Notice the uncertainty for the type of precipitation.
This is the timing and precipitation type from the European Model.
This is the timing and precipitation type from the GFS Model.
This is the timing and precipitation type from the North American Model.
If any wintery precipitation does accumulate, we don't expect it to stick around too long as temperatures rise back into the 60s early next week. Looks like a break on Monday and Tuesday from the rain and then another wet pattern builds late next week.
The WeatherDawgs will keep you updated with any watches and/ or warnings to keep you ahead of the storm.
