Here I am, Once Again, The Heat Has Returned

For our viewers in North Georgia and Athens, we experienced quite the storm on Thursday night, with winds up to 70 miles an hour, multiple trees and tree branches falling down and widespread power outages across our viewing area. Friday looked to be the same way as well but turned out to be less powerful and only caused heavy rainfall, some localized flooding and quite the lightning show. But cooler temperatures and lots of sunshine made it a very pleasant weekend. The good news is the sunshine will be persisting for the next week as a high pressure system sits over the area as the jet stream moves northward but the bad new is temperatures and relative humidity will gradually increase, which will make for an unpleasant time outdoors

As we head into the overnight hours for Athens, mostly clear conditions will be present with the low dipping into the mid 60's. For tomorrow, partly cloudy skies are anticipated, along with high relative humidity values, with the high peaking into the mid 90's and heat index values reaching into the low 100's.

For North Georgia, the story is vastly similar. As we go into the overnight hours tonight, mostly clear conditions are anticipated, with the low dipping into the low 60's. For tomorrow, Partly cloudy conditions are likely, along with high relative humidity value. The high will peak into the low 90's but heat index values will peak into the high 90's.

Going later into the week, sunny skies along with high temps and high heat index values will prevail. If you plan on going outside, make sure to put on some sunscreen, drink plenty of water and limit prolonged exposure outdoors, especially during the afternoon.
