April Showers Bring May Flowers

Did the weather seem to flip-flop on you today? If you thought so, you're not wrong. We experienced a mid-morning high today, topping out at 79, before getting progressively cooler throughout the afternoon. Athens cooled to the upper 60s as cloud cover increased and scattered showers entered the area.

Scattered showers are expected to continue through the evening and overnight hours for Athens. Overnight temperatures will drop to the low 60s. Temperatures don't change much tomorrow: you can expect a high in the upper 70s. We'll enjoy a mix of sun and clouds early, before scattered showers make their return in the evening.

The wider North Georgia area will also experience rain overnight. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 1/5 Risk for severe weather extending from the Atlanta metro to the Georgia/ Tennessee border. Isolated strong thunderstorms are possible as temperatures cool to around 60 overnight. We'll warm up tomorrow, making a return to the mid 70s, despite partly cloudy skies in the morning and returning evening rain chances.

We'll see similar condtions for the remainder of the week, giving us a taste of classic summer weather: pleasant mornings, with the chance for pop-up thunderstorms during our afternoons.

Enjoy the week, keep your umbrellas handy, and as always, Go Dawgs!
