High-Pressure Stronghold

Good afternoon, Dawg Nation!
A persistent pattern of beautiful weather has held Athens and North Georgia under its clutches. Over the course of this week, temperatures have slowly risen back into the mid 80s. As we wind down the last few days of summer, we will continue to see those high temperatures keep climbing into the upper 80s, hanging right around normal for this time of the year. Low temperatures will continue to hang around the low-to-mid 60s.
As dew points have slowly risen over the past few days, so has our chances for sporadic afternoon pop-up showers, as we saw yesterday in Athens. This will continue to be the case in the coming days, with chances for afternoon pop-up showers remaining slight, so long as there is moisture to support it. The overall pattern will remain the same, however. Strong high-pressure will keep most of the area dry. We here at WeatherDawgs HQ don't see this trend letting up anytime soon.
The first day of Fall is right around the corner! Monday, September 22 marks the fall equinox, where we will experience equal night and day times! Beyond then, nights will slowly begin to get longer and longer, and summer will gradually release its hold on the south, as I'm sure many in the south have been looking forward to.
Go Dawgs!
