Major Cooldown Coming

Areas across North Georgia enjoyed sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 70s this afternoon. If you're a fan of this classic fall weather - you're in luck! These conditions will continue over the next few days, before a dramatic cooldown heads our way next week.

Skies will remain clear overnight tonight, with low temperatures dropping to the mid 40s. While these lows are slightly better than the mid 30s we saw earlier in the week, you'll still want to make sure you grab a jacket before you head out the door in the morning. Then, tomorrow afternoon, North Georgia can expect a repeat of today's weather. Highs will be in the low 70s and abundant sunshine will return.

Friday afternoon will be a similar story; however, conditions will start to change overnight Friday into Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms, some potentially strong, will move through the state ahead of a cold front. A second cold front will push through later in the weekend, leaving us with a frigid start to the work week. Most of North Georgia will see its first freeze of the season, with low temperatures dropping well below freezing and highs struggling to break 50.

Enjoy the beautiful weather to end the week, and make sure you pull out your winter coats over the weekend! Stay safe and, as always, Go Dawgs!
