Much Needed Rain!

Clouds are starting to fill the skies of North Georgia and Athens this evening, dropping temperatures slightly. This drop comes after Athens hit a high of 91 degrees this afternoon - well above average for late September. Along with these clouds will come some much needed rain. Portions of North Georgia have been in a moderate drought throughout the month, and this precipitation will help to ease those dry conditions.

Scattered thunderstorms will cross into the western portion of the state around sunset tonight. These storms will push north and east through the overnight hours. The rain will keep us on the warmer side overnight, with a low in Athens around 70 and lows further north in the upper 60s.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue throughout the day tomorrow, bringing with them the chance for strong winds and heavy downpours. Cooler temperatures will accompany the storms - you can expect an afternoon high almost ten degrees lower than we saw today.

The rain isn't going anywhere as we start our weekend. Scattered showers will continue on Friday and Saturday, along with the more mild temperatures. If you're headed to Georgia's 7:00 P.M. game against Alabama on Saturday, you'll want to keep a close eye on the timing of these showers. Plan to have an umbrella handy.

The WeatherDawgs will continue to bring updates regarding this rainy weather as we get closer to Saturday's game! Stay safe and dry out there, Dawg Nation!
