Good afternoon, viewers! Today was rather warm in North Georgia and Athens areas, with clear skies and some S/SW breezes. The last few days have featured a brief taste of spring-like conditions. Those conditions will continue into tomorrow as a brief disturbance brings some clouds and light rain into the area Tuesday and into Wednesday prior to a cold frontal passage Wednesday afternoon. Tonight, temperatures are expected to fall to the lower 50s, quite noticeably above climatological norms. Clouds are expected to build overnight, with a slight possibility of a few sprinkles going into the early morning hours. Tomorrow will feature another round of warmer temperatures, with highs expected to reach into the lower 70s. Clouds and a slight chance of rain will stick around throughout the day, making for a spring-like atmosphere as we near the end of February. For North Georgia, lows are generally expected to fall into the low 50s. Clouds and light rain are also possible throughout the area. Going into tomorrow, highs in the low 70s are generally expected under continuing cloudiness and more light rain. Altogether, the conditions will combine to be quite Spring-like. However, in typical Georgia fashion, changes are coming. Speaking of those changes, the cloudiness and light rain will be replaced by a potent, albeit quick-moving, cold frontal passage during the day on Wednesday. Heavier showers and embedded thunderstorms are possible along the line; however, it appears that impacts will be minimal outside of some briefly disruptive rain. Behind the front, cooler temps will quickly pour in, dropping temperatures back to more winter-like values on Thursday and Friday. Gusty winds are also possible in association with and after the frontal passage. Overall, it should be a relatively fun weather week. With samples of spring and winter, with a bit of rain in between, we should get to experience virtually everything this week! Enjoy the interesting weather, stay safe, and as always, Go Dawgs!!!
