Hot and Dry Conditions to Continue

Good evening, Athens and North Georgia! Today here in Athens, we hit a warm high of 77 degrees, bringing an end to the pleasant cool temperatures brought from this weekend's cold front passage. We stayed clear for most of the day, dry and calm from any winds.


As for tonight, Athens is expected to reach a low of around 51 degrees, while Canton, Georgia, is expected to reach around 50 degrees. Expect little to no precipitation, partly cloudy conditions, and calm winds for both areas. For tomorrow, Athens is expected to reach a high of around 82 degrees, and for Canton, a high of around 80 degrees. Both locations are forecasted to experience the same weather conditions as today: sunny, dry, and calm winds.


These current conditions are expected to continue until Saturday, where we have the chance to receive some rain showers and thunderstorms. Unfortunately, the persistent dry and hot weather will prolong the high fire danger conditions that are affecting most of Georgia. Therefore, it’s please try to minimize any outdoor fire usage. However, if you must use fire, please exercise extreme caution for the time being.
