It's Raining, But Still Not Cooling Down

Good evening, Georgia! After weeks of sitting under high pressure systems, seeing nothing but clear blue skies, we are finally seeing a shift in the pattern. Today, North and Central Georgia got its most significant rainfall since the end of September. This rain is a welcome change, as much of our state has been classified as "Abnormally Dry."

In Athens, we will see little change in our temperatures over the next 24 hours. Overnight tonight, our low will be in the upper 60s, on the warm side due to heavy cloud cover and widespread showers. Tomorrow, we only warm up to the low 70s as showers continue through mid afternoon. Rain will be most intense in the early morning, meaning you'll want to be cautious during your morning commute. Even after showers end, heavy cloud cover will remain.

There's good news for North Georgia: though it might look gloomy outside, you'll be getting less rain than those to your south. Overnight tonight, expect a 30% chance for spotty showers, the low cooling to the mid 60s. Tomorrow, you will be slightly warmer than central Georgia, with much less rainfall and less intense cloud cover allowing you to heat up to the mid 70s.

If you're wondering where the fall-like tempeatures are now that it's early November, you aren't alone. Our highs and lows are currently 10-15 degrees above their climatological averages, and we don't see much of a decrease in sight.

Stay dry tomorrow and, as always, Go Dawgs!
